Quiet time in a Japanese garden / 大濠公園の日本庭園

Enjoying an impromptu afternoon off, I went once again to Ohori Park, which is definitely one of my favorite places : I am going every week. From home, it takes about 40 minutes by foot or 15 minutes by bike. After my now customary walk around the lake, I went for the first time to the Japanese garden (Nihon teien 日本庭園). The cherry blossom season is almost over so the flow of tourists has endend and I almost had the garden for myself .

先週、突然に休みを取らなければなりませんでしたので 、帰り道に大濠公園に寄りました。



This Japanese garden was created for the 50th anniversary of Ohori Park and was opened in 1984. Since then, it becames a popular spot and enjoyed by japanese tourists as well ad foreign ones : we (foreign people) even have a discount ! I was not aware of it and was surprised to hear that the entrance would cost me 180 yens instead of 240 yens. Lucky !

It's been a while since I did not visit a Japanese garden, my last was in September 2013. In fact I have two reference gardens :  Ritsurin in Takamatsu and the wonderful gardens of the old samurai houses in Kanazawa. I was so amazed by these places that I can't find japanese gardens amazing anymore. Well, let's say I have not found equivalence. The Nihon Teien was not an exception although it is quite nice to visit, pretty, well maintained  except the dry garden, a little messy because of the strong wind) and mostly quiet.
The runing track of Ohori Park is just a few meters away, with a lot of joggers, walkers , families, children, cycling people but it is strangely quite. Maybe I didn't hear the noise because of the quite and peaceful atmosphere ?


日本庭園に行くの久しぶりです。最後は2013年の秋でだいぶ前ですね。
日本庭園がすきですが、実はお気に入りの場所があります！それは高松市の栗林公園と金沢市の元さむらいの家の庭です。
とても綺麗で感動して、同じレベルの美しさがまだ見つかっていませんのでどこかの日本庭園に幾たびに思わずにすこしがっかりをしてしまいます。
そんな気持ちのくせに大濠公園の日本庭園は綺麗で良い時間を過ごせました。枯山水の砂は強風で少しばらばらでしたが、まぁ仕方がないですね！
そして、大濠公園がすぐ隣なのに以外と静かでした。雰囲気で音を聞こえなかったのでしょうか？

I do not have much to say because there is nothing else to do than to walk quietly, observing the carps sliping into the shallow water of the lake and look at the plants, varied, whose leaves dance with the wind. It feels good to think about nothing ! Small sitting areas are built : perfect to enjoy the entire park and the quiet atmosphere.

 ゆっくりお散歩しながり泳いでいる鯉や風で舞う様々な植物の葉を見たりして、静かに美しい雰囲気を楽しめました。
上の方に休める場所が作られていて休憩をしながら景色を見る事が出来ます。
